ChoralWiki talk:Voice Ranges
expanding this page?
| Help |
This is a great idea. Are you planning to expand it? It would be good to link to the Wikipedia page about vocal ranges. I'd also love to see (this is missing from the Wikipedia entry) indication that different genres of music typically demand slightly different ranges of singing (e.g. modern choral soprano parts can go higher, while modern editions of Renaissance pieces generally don't require sop to go above a G or alto to go above a D). |
I can expand the "Vocal Ranges" page

I can expand it. I made it because I was confused about the numbering (restarting at C), ie: ... g2 a2 b2 c3 d3 ... and also because it presents a visual indication of how many notes are in the range. What would you like to see added. I'll add a link to the Wikipedia article, but the ranges there need fixing. The piano key ranges in the diagram don't agree with the "Basic Choral" or "Basic Operatic" range tables. Also the "Operatic" ranges should always be an expansion of the "Choral" ranges, and they aren't. |
