Biography

Henry Alline, born at Newport, Rhode IslandLink to the English Wikipedia article, was an itinerant preacher throughout Maritime Canada and northeastern New England, but is particularly associated with Nova Scotia: the third edition of his Hymns, and Spiritual Songs (Dover: Samuel Bragg Jr., 1797) contains 488 hymns, although the last of one these is not by Alline himself, and is marked 'By B.R.'.
