Biography

Josiah Booth was born in Coventry, England, and studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Sir George A. Macfarren. He was organist of the Wesleyan Chapel, Banbury (1868-76), and the Park Congregational Church, Crouch End, London (1877-1918). He was musical editor for the 1888 Congregational Hymnal and musical consultant to the committee that compiled Congregational Hymnal in 1916. He was elected to the Royal Academy of Music in 1904.
