German.png German text

1.  Mit Freuden zart
zu dieser Fahrt laßt
uns zugleich frölich singen,
beid', groß und klein,
von Herzen rein,
mit hellem Ton frei erklingen.
Das ewig Heil
wird uns zuteil;
denn Jesus Christ
erstanden ist,
was er läßt reichlich verkünden.

2.  Er ist der erst',
der stark und fest
all' unser' Feind' hat bezwungen
und durch den Tod
als wahrer Gott
zum neuen Leben gedrungen,
auch seiner Schar
verheißen klar
durch sein' rein' Wort,
zur Himmelspfort'
den gleichen Sieg zu erlangen.

3. So freien Trost,
den du bracht hast,
gib uns, Herr, stets zu genießen.
Durch deine Güt'
stärk unser Gmüt',
zu warten des ohn' Verdrießen,
daß wir die Frist,
die du uns gibst,
mit viel Geduld
in deiner Huld
glückselig möchten beschließen.

4. Singt Lob und Dank
mit freiem Klang
unserm Herrn zu allen Zeiten
und tut sein' Ehr'
je mehr und mehr
mit Wort und Tat weit ausbreiten:
so wird er uns
aus Lieb' und Gunst
nach unserm Tod,
frei aller Not,
zur ewigen Freud’ geleiten.

English.png English translation

1. In quiet joy
we journey on,
together, joyfully singing,
both great and small,
and pure in heart,
our joyous song loudly ringing.
Salvation now to us has come,
for Christ from death
to life has come;
as He Himself was foretelling.

2. He is the best
who, firm and strong,
destroyed our foes, all infernal,
and with His death
as Lord and God
has brought new life eternal,
as promised us
by angel hosts and by His word;
to heaven's door the victory universal.

3. The peace so free
that You have giv’n
may we enjoy all our life long.
Grant us the gift
to bear our lives without despair,
with patience strong that all the days
you’ve giv’n to us in patience may,
by Your good grace,
conclude in blissful and sweet song.

4. Let praise and thanks
ring loudly forth unto God,
at all times praising
and honor Him yet more and more
in all our doing
and speaking that He
may lead with love
and grace beyond our death,
from pain relieved,
to joy and peace everlasting.
