Description: The original version of a well-known Christmas song - an Antiphon for the celebration of Rudolphus, reno et confessor. Provenance uncertain, but certain aspects of the melody, such as the end of the versus, point towards an origin not in the main continental tradition, but rather in some of the more peripheral provinces, e.g. in the English sphere or possibly in the Scandinavian countries.

Nasum rubrum habebat;
Si umquam eum spectes,
Dicas eum fulgere.

Omnes tarandri alii
Semper hunc deridebant;
Cum misero Rudolpho
In ludis non ludebant.

Sanctus Nicholas dixit
Nocte nebulae,
O Rudolphe, nocte hac
visne traham ducere?

Tum renores clamabant,
“Rudolphe, delectus es?
Cum naso rubro claro
Notus eris posteris!”
