The issue with {{Recent_additions}} is that it mixes up new works with old works that have just received a new edition. As old works have yet been checked before, this template should not be added to a composer page when just an edition is new in a yet existing work page.

I don't think that the same issues as CheckMissing applies here except the one about the cache issue. (Claude T. 1205 25 November 2017)

Very good, I will see what I can do. – Barry Johnston (talk) 02:01, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
I now have this template working correctly. It shows pages with new works in the past three days, but excludes pages that existed before that. If there were no new pages in the past three days, nothing is shown. (I cannot use the test server to test this, because the AddWork form is not available there). The only thing remaining is to remove the template itself after that time; I'm not sure how to do that, but I will explore the options.
This was designed as a replacement for the template Recent additions; that is, I would replace the code in Recent additions with the code here, removing the "2" from references to the template. – Barry Johnston (talk) 19:50, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
