German.png German text

1  Wenn alle untreu werden,
so blieb doch ich dir treu,
dass Dankbarkeit auf Erden
nicht ausgestorben sei.
Für mich umfing dich Leiden,
vergingst für mich in Schmerz,
drum geb' ich dir mit Freuden
auf ewig dieses Herz.

2  Oft muss ich bitter weinen,
Dass du gestorben bist,
Und mancher von den Deinen
Dich lebenslang vergisst.
Von Liebe nur durchdrungen
Hast du so viel getan,
Und doch bist du verklungen,
Und keiner denkt daran.

3  Du stehst voll treuer Liebe
noch immer jedem bei,
und wenn dir keiner bliebe,
so bleibst du dennoch true;
Die treuste Liebe sieget,
am Ende fühlt man sie,
weint bitterlich und schmieget
sich kindlich an dein Knie!

4  Ich habe dich empfunden,
o lasse nicht von mir,
lass innig mich verbunden
auf ewig sein mit dir.
Einst schauen meine Brüder
auch wieder himmelwärts,
und sinken liebend nieder
und fallen dir ans Herz!

English.png English translation

1  Even if all others become faithless,
I will still be loyal to You,
So that thankfulness
Will not die out on Earth.
For me You were engulfed in suffering,
You died for me in pain;
Therefore I joyfully give You
This heart forever.

2  Often I must weep bitterly,
That You are dead,
And many of those who are Yours
Forget You for all their lives.
Filled only with love
You did so much,
And yet Your voice has faded away,
And no one thinks of it.

3  You stand, full of faithful love,
By everyone, always;
And even if no one stood by You,
You would still remain true;
The most faithful love triumphs,
In the end people feel it,
Weep bitterly and nestle
Like children against Your knee.

4  I have sensed You,
Oh, do not leave me;
Let me be deeply bound
To You forever.
Someday my brothers will also look
Heavenwards again,
And sink lovingly down,
And fall upon Your heart!
