Se formó con músicos de primer nivel en las instituciones más relevantes del panorama musical español del momento. Fue maestro de capilla de las catedrales de Cuenca y Sevilla y alcanzó un enorme prestigio entres sus contemporáneos. Su obra se encuentra principalmente en Cuenca y Sevilla, aunque también dispersa por numerosísimas catedrales e incluso en lugares como Munich o México. Destaca, de igual forma, su labor como maestro, teniendo a su cargo alumnos tan brillantes como los hermanos Durón.

He was appointed chapel master at the Cuenca and Seville cathedrals and he gained great prestige among his contemporaries. In addition, He excelled as a master having had such brilliant apprentices as the Duron brothers.
