Biography Born in Zamora, Tejeda studied at Salamanca before being appointed maestro de capilla at Calahorra (1572), Ciudad Rodrigo, León (1591), Salamanca (1593), Zamora (1601), Toledo (1604, succeeding Alonso Lobo), Burgos (1618, after quarrels with the Toledo singers) and Zamora (1623–8). His death notice gives his age as 88.
