Description: Bring Me Joy is a Christmas piece that is a bit of a cross between a spiritual and Malcolm Sargent’s arrangement of the Cowboy Carol, though it doesn’t have any glissandi! Some people have been a bit taken aback by the words:

The angels cried aloud “It’s a boy!”
But after all, it was.

When I’m full of misery,
Bring me joy!
For the angels are acrying
‘Sinner, rise up and see!’
Those shepherds in Judea,
those shepherds they can hear
When the angels cry aloud, ‘It’s a boy!’
Bring me joy, little baby, bring me joy!

Whenever I feel sad and grey,
Bring me peace.
I think of baby Jesus lying still on the hay;
Do I think about the baby
and Lord, oh Lord, then maybe
All my troubles, bitter troubles will cease.
Bring me peace, little baby, bring me peace.
I think about the baby, and Lord, oh Lord, then maybe
All my troubles, bitter troubles will cease.
Bring me peace.

In the darkness of my soul,
Bring me light!
I’m ahiding from your judgement but I want to be whole
So lead me Lord from danger,
Lord lead me to the manger,
Bring salvation to a poor sinner’s sight.
Bring me light! Bring me light!

Lead me Lord, oh lead me to the light, Lord.
Bring me light, bring me joy!
