Original text and translations

Song of Solomon 5:11–12

Latin.png Latin text

Caput eius aurum optimum,
comae eius sicut elatae palmarum,
nigrae quasi corvus.
Oculi eius sicut columbae super rivulos aquarum
quae lacte sunt lotae
et resident iuxta fluenta plenissima.

English.png English translation

His head is as the finest gold:
his locks as branches of palm trees,
black as a raven.
His eyes as doves upon brooks of waters,
which are washed with milk,
and sit beside the plentiful streams.

Hungarian.png Hungarian translation

Feje színarany,
haja, mint a pálmafa lombjai,
fekete, mint a holló.
Szemei, mint a patakok melletti galambokéi,
melyek tejben fürdettek,
és a bőséges folyam mellett ülnek.

Dutch.png Dutch translation

Zijn hoofd is als van puur goud.
Zijn lokken zijn als palmtakken,
zwart als een raaf.
Zijn ogen zijn als duiven bij een waterstroom,
gebaad als in melk,
en neergestreken bij een volle rivier.

Translation by Anton Hendriks, Ben Terstegge & Hanneke Pot
