Donna, nel mio ritorno
il mio pensiero, a cui nulla pon freno,
precorre dove il ciel è più sereno,
e se ne vien a far con voi soggiorno;
né da voi si diparte
giamai la notte e’l giorno,
perché l’annoia ciascun’altra parte.
Onde sol per virtù del pensier mio,
mentre ne vengo a voi, con voi son io.

Milady, while I return to you
my thoughts, which nothing restrains,
rush across the most serene sky
and come to abide by you;
never they leave you,
neither at day nor night,
because everywhere else would bore them.
It is, thus, only by virtue of my thoughts
that as I come towards you, I am already with you.
