1.  Erstanden ist der Herre Christ,
Halleluja!

2.  Es gingen drei heilige Frau'n,
des Morgens früe hin im Tau'n.

3. Sie suchten den Herrn Jesum Christ,
der von dem Tod erstanden ist.

4. Ach Engel, lieber Engel fein,
wo find ich denn den Herren mein?

5. Er ist erstanden aus dem Grab.
heut an dem Heil'gen Ostertag.

6. Zeig uns den Herren Jesum Christ,
der von dem Tod erstanden ist.

7. So tret't heran und seht die Statt,
da unser Herr gelegen hat.

8. Der Herr ist hin, er ist nicht da,
wenn ich ihn hätt', so wär ich froh.

9. Seht an das Tuch, darin er lag,
gewickelt bis am dritten Tag.

10. Wir sehen's wohl zu dieser Frist
weis uns den Herren Jesum Christ.

11. Ihr sollt nach Galliläa geh'n,
da werdet ihr den Heiland seh'n.

12. Habt Dank, ihr lieben Engel fein,
nun woll'n wir alle fröhlich sein.

13. Geht hin, sagt das Sankt Petro an,
und seinen Jüngern lobesan.

14. Nun singet all' zu dieser Frist:
Erstanden ist der Heil'ge Christ!

15. Des soll'n wir alle fröhlich sein,
und Christ soll unser Tröster sein.

English.png English translation

1. The Lord is risen from the dead,
alleluia!

2. Three blessed women sought His tomb,
in early morning, full of gloom,

3. It was our Lord whom they did seek,
whose resurrection now we speak,

4. O angel, dearest angel, say,
where may I find my Lord this day?

5. He has been from the grave released,
aris'n upon this Easter feast,

6. Show us our Lord who's ris'n today,
who has aris'n from death, you say,

7. So step inside and see the place,
where our Lord's body had been placed,

8. The Lord is gone; he is not here.
my joy would be to see Him here,

9. Behold the cloth in which He lay,
all tightly wrapped 'til this third day,

10. Now we may see His time has come,
show us Lord Jesus, God's own Son,

11. You must now go to Galilee,
and there the Savior you will see.

12. We give you thanks, o angel, sweet,
that now our joy is made complete,

13. Go back and tell Saint Peter there,
that His disciples joy may share,

14. Now sing we all this holy day,
that Jesus Christ is ris'n today,

15. Therefor we all sing joyfully,
for Christ our Comforter shall be,
