1  Herr, mein Gemüt und Sinn du weißt,
daß ich nicht bin vermessen,
ich hab kein hochtrabenden Geist,
Stolz hat mich nicht besessen.
Vor dir schämt sich mein Angesicht,
was mir zu schwer, erforsch ich nicht,
seh nicht nach hohen Dingen.

2  Mein Herz sehnt sich nach deinem Wort,
mein Seel nach dir verlanget,
gleich wie ein Kind der Mutter fort
an ihren Brüsten hanget;
wo meine Seel nicht Trost empfindt't,
so tuts ihr bang, gleich wie dem Kind,
das die Mutter entwöhnet.

3  Darum hoff nur getrost auf Gott,
ver laß dich auf sein Gnade,
wer Gott vertraut in aller Not,
dem muß zuletzt geraten.
Trau fest, du liebes Israel,
Gott wend dein Leid und Ungefäll
jetzt und zu ewgen Zeiten!
