Im Garten leidet Christus Not,
den Vater bitt' ringt mit dem Tod,
sein blutig Schweiß auf Erden fällt,
den Feinden er sich willig stellt,

In Schmerzen er sein Blut vergießt,
für unsre Sünd am Kreuz es fließt
ruft in der finstem Angst zu Gott,
erlöset uns durch seinen Tod.

Siehe, das ist Gottes Lamm,
aller Welt Sünd' macht ihm bang';
Sünd' und Straf' zugleich er trägt;
selig ist wer's herzlich glaubt.
