Mais que sert la richesse a l'homme
qui jouir ne sait de son bien ?
À travailler il se consomme
et d’ici-bas n’emporte rien.

Un autre jouira du sien
de travailler franc et délivre.
Apprends donc à jouir du tien,
réjouir s’en faut et bien vivre.

But what good is wealth to the fool
Who fails to enjoy his success?
He does naught but work like a mule
And thus makes his life quite a mess.

Some know to enjoy the largesse
That comes from virtuous toil.
So profit from what you possess,
Enjoy it or life will you spoil.
