General Information

Description: The New Version is a short name for a metrical psalter in common use in English-speaking countries from the end of the seventeenth century to the middle nineteenth century. It was eventually replaced by the psalm paraphrases of Isaac Watts (beginning in 1719) and others, although a few remain in use (Psalms 34, 95, and 148, for example).
