Description: A folk hymn (Jackson 1953b, No. 100). First published by Joshua Leavitt in his Christian Lyre, 1830, p. 156, for Tenor and Bass. Re-arranged by William Walker in his Southern and Western Pocket Harmonist, 1860, pp. 110-111, with new Treble and Bass parts; William Walker added an Alto part in his Christian Harmony, 1867, p. 256. Words by John Leland, ca. 1790, with six or seven stanzas.
