Clementine Vulgate (Psalm 9)Latin text 22 Ut quid, Domine, recessisti longe; despicis in opportunitatibus, in tribulatione? Auferuntur judicia tua a facie ejus; omnium inimicorum suorum dominabitur. 27 Dixit enim in corde suo: Non movebor a generatione in generationem, sine malo. 29 Sedet in insidiis cum divitibus in occultis, ut interficiat 30a Oculi ejus in pauperem respiciunt; 30b insidiatur in abscondito, quasi leo in spelunca sua. Insidiatur ut rapiat pauperem; 30c rapere pauperem dum attrahit eum. 31 In laqueo suo humiliabit eum; inclinabit se, 32 Dixit enim in corde suo: Oblitus est Deus; avertit faciem suam, ne videat in finem. 33 Exsurge, Domine Deus, exaltetur manus tua; ne obliviscaris pauperum. |
Church of England 1662 Book of Common PrayerEnglish text 1 Why standest thou so far off, O Lord : and hidest thy face in the needful time of trouble? 2 The ungodly for his own lust doth persecute the poor : let them be taken in the crafty wiliness that they have imagined. 3a For the ungodly hath made boast of his own heart's desire : and speaketh good of the covetous, 3b whom God abhorreth. 4a The ungodly is so proud, that he careth not for God ; 4b neither is God in all his thoughts. 5 His ways are alway grievous : thy judgements are far above out of his sight, and therefore defieth he all his enemies. 6 For he hath said in his heart, Tush, I shall never be cast down : there shall no harm happen unto me. 7 His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and fraud : under his tongue is ungodliness and vanity. 8a He sitteth lurking in the thievish corners of the streets : and privily in his lurking dens doth he murder the innocent; 8b his eyes are set against the poor. 9 For he lieth waiting secretly, even as a lion lurketh he in his den : that he may ravish the poor. 10 He doth ravish the poor : when he getteth him into his net. 11 He falleth down, and humbleth himself : 12 He hath said in his heart, Tush, God hath forgotten : he hideth away his face, and he will never see it. 13 Arise, O Lord God, and lift up thine hand : forget not the poor. 14 Wherefore should the wicked blaspheme God : while he doth say in his heart, Tush, thou God carest not for it. 15 Surely thou hast seen it : for thou beholdest ungodliness and wrong. 16 That thou mayest take the matter into thy hand : the poor committeth himself unto thee; 17 Break thou the power of the ungodly and malicious : take away his ungodliness, 18 The Lord is King for ever and ever : and the heathen are perished out of the land. 19 Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the poor : thou preparest their heart, 20 To help the fatherless and poor unto their right : that the man of the earth be no more exalted against them. |
King James Version
English text
1 Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute in the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
5 His ways are always grievous: thy judgements are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the poor.
13 Wherefore doth the wicked condemn God: he hath said in his heart, thou wilt not require it.
14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
16 The Lord is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of the land.
17 Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

Káldi fordítás
Hungarian translation
Miért távoztál, Uram, meszsze, elfordúlsz az alkalmas időben, a szorongatásban?
Míg az istentelen kevélykedik, ég a szegény; de amaz megfogatik tanácsaiban, melyeket forralt;
