Clementine Vulgate (Psalm 111)Latin text 1 Alleluia. Reversionis Aggei et Zacchariae. Beatus vir qui timet Dominum: in mandatis ejus volet nimis. 2 Potens in terra erit semen ejus; generatio rectorum benedicetur. 3 Gloria et divitiae in domo ejus: et justitia ejus manet in saeculum saeculi.
Church of England 1662 Book of Common PrayerEnglish text 1 Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord: he hath great delight in his commandments. 2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the faithful shall be blessed. 3 Riches and plenteousness shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 Unto the godly there ariseth up light in the darkness: he is merciful, loving, and righteous. 5 A good man is merciful, and lendeth: and will guide his words with discretion. 6 For he shall never be moved: and the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance. 7 He will not be afraid of any evil tidings: for his heart standeth fast, and believeth in the Lord. 8 His heart is established, and will not shrink: until he see his desire upon his enemies. 9 He hath dispersed abroad, and given to the poor: and his righteousness remaineth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. 10 The ungodly shall see it, and it shall grieve him: he shall gnash with his teeth, and consume away; the desire of the ungodly shall perish. |
Luther Bibel 1545German text 1 Halleluja!
King James VersionEnglish text 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. 2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. 6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. 9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. 10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish. |
