Cornelius Tratt är död
(en liten rödlätt man,
gick gärna med syrtut,
igår begravdes han).
Jag kistan såg
och processionen
och gjorde denna reflexionen:
"Bror Tratt,
du levde glatt och kort,
förr bars du alltid hem,
nu bärs du äntligt bort."

English translation

Cornelius Tratt is dead
(a ruddy little man,
preferred to wear a surcoat;
yesterday was his interment).
I saw the coffin
and the funeral procession
and made this reflexion:
"Tratt, my brother,
your life was jolly but short;
you used to be carried home,
now you are finally carried away."
