:Sweet was the song the Virgin sang,
:When she to Bethlem Juda came
:And was delivered of a son,
:That blessed Jesus hath to name:
:Lulla, lulla, lulla, lullaby,
:Lulla, lulla, lulla, lullaby.
:"Sweet babe," sang she, "my son, And Eke a Saviour born,
:Who hast vouchsafed from on high
:To visit us that were forlorn:
:Lalula, lalula, lalulaby, Sweet babe", sang she
:And rocked him sweetly on her knee.

Description: A note by Robert Nottingham:

This arrangement seems to be able to be performed in one of two ways. Either as a soprano solo with 4 viols as accompaniment or as a 5 part song. If it is performed in the second way, the voicing could be either SATTB or SAATB. It seems that the arranger intended for the scoring to be SATTB because the third line down has a treble clef down the octave rather than being notated simply as a treble clef like the second line down. However, it is consistently high in the tenor register so having a scoring of SAATB seems preferable to me.
