Description: Published in Southern Harmony, 1835, p. 156, for three voices: Treble-Tenor-Bass. In the original, it is uncertain to what notes the Chorus is to be sung; in this edition, the Chorus is sung to the last part. Words by an unknown author, before 1805, with seven stanzas. The underlying hymn has meter 88. 88. (L. M.); Walker added "O halle, Hallelujah" to the end of each line, hence the meter of Walker's words is 87. 87. D. This tune (without the Chorus) was included in The Sacred Harp, p. 213 from 1844 to the present; an Alto part was added after 1922.
