1  'Tis break of day, come, haste away,
To seek the may-dew's magic power.
The fields are bright with liquid light,
That silvers every sleeping flower.
Arise! the eastern skies are tinged
With hues that pale the rose;
And wild birds wake from bower and brake,
And warbling, start from soft repose.
R:  Awake! Arise! 'Tis break of day,
Come, haste, come haste away.

2  Shake off thy dreams, the sun's bright beams
Will soon disperse the may-dew's spell.
Through yonder brake our way we'll take,
Where lingering dewdrops longest dwell.
And ere the day has chased away
These sparkling gems of light,
O'er lawn and mead we'll quickly speed,
And put the may-dew elves to flight.
R:  Awake! Arise! 'Tis break of day,
Come, haste, come haste away.
