General Information

Title: Fini le bien
Composer: Pierre Sandrin

Number of voices: 4vv   Voicing: STTB
Genre: SecularChanson

Language: French
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1544 in Second livre des chansons a quatre parties (Susato), no. 11
Description: A setting of the text of the riposte to 'Doulce memoire'. The attribution to Sandrin is by no means certain (Certon). It appears, (1544, Second livre, Susato) on the same page as 'Doulce memoire', but without attribution to Sandrin (unlike the previous item); the collection index attributes the piece to Pierre Certon. Other arrangements of the same material elsewhere credit the original to Certon, as does RISM. Epigram and riposte have text in common, but no musical material.
