Original text and translations
Latin text
Sanctus Bartholomaeus,
qui princeps exstitit soli,
natus alto genere,
manet adhuc princeps poli,
tectus agni velere. [ should be vellere. ]
Hic nam Indos convertebat
verbo salutifero,
daemonesque confundebat
facto nimis aspero.
English translation
Saint Bartholomew,
who emerged as a prince upon earth,
being born of high rank,
remains still a prince in heaven,
covered in the lamb's fleece.
For he converted the people of India
with the saving word,
and brought ruin to demons
with very severe acts.
