Talk:Johannes Brahms

I would like to do some clean up on this page. The works list by opus number is fine, but there is a little mess at the end: works without opus number should indeed be put there, at the end of the list, but there is a second list with no particular ordering, and I think some rearraging would be necessary.

In addition, would a third list, by genre, be welcome? As far as I can tell such a list usually comes before everything else. Arthur 2007-02-16 05:00 CET (04:00 UTC)

Arthur, I've got a lot to say on this subject so forgive me for not posting yet. A reply will come soon! -- Bobnotts 23:27, 22 February 2007 (PST)
Great, I'm looking forward to it. However, I have to say things have changed since I wrote the first paragraphs above (the “little mess” has been cleaned up by myself, after much research on Brahms works catalogs).
Maybe you can post your reply on the Bulletin Board, so as for more people to be aware of it? -- Arthur 2007-02-23 06:58 CET (05:58 UTC)
Well done for all the hard work!
OK, maybe there wasn't a huge amount for me to say about Brahms' page but here is the important part anyway: The template {{BrahmsScores}} currently exists only on Brahm's Requiem page. In the same way as for all of Schutz's works, this template should appear on all of Brahms' score pages. In this way, a user may browse in alphabetical order (Category:Johannes Brahms compositions) or by work number (on the Brahms page itself). I don't know whether another page for genre would be useful. Maybe ... Anyway, for the moment, the template above needs to appear (at the top) on every Brahms score page and the alphabetized list removed from the Brahms composer page as it will appear as a category. As you're running this show, give me a list of score pages and I'll add the template to them. Either that or do it all yourself!
PS. See a Schutz score page and Monteverdi's page for a comparison of how different templates are used, ie. {{Composer|Claudio Monteverdi}} and {{SchützScores}}. If any of this is unclear, please leave another message before diving into the editing! -- Bobnotts 19:41, 25 February 2007 (PST)
PPS. I posted a note on the admin part of the forum so that the people who don't always follow the recent changes will know about this discussion. Would you mind holding off until we get some support? -- Bobnotts 19:51, 25 February 2007 (PST)
No problem, I can wait util a concensus is reached on the matter -- Arthur 2007-02-26 05:34 CET (04:34 UTC)

Subordinate parts of a larger work to their "mother work" ?

Wouldn't it make sense to subordinate the parts of a larger work (e. g. the various numbers of Liebesliederwalzer op. 52) to their "mother work" and not scatter them about the whole list (which to me seems rather annoying)? bms 07:52, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

To my way thinking, yes it would make very good sense, especially since Johannes Brahms compositions gives a list of Brahms works alpabetically by title of the works pages and Johannes Brahms - list of choral works gives a list by opus number. -- Chucktalk Giffen 13:41, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I've created the page and reorganised the choral works list - both probably need further editing. Cordially, joachim 16:16, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I was searching for the midifiles of the Requiem by Brahms. I found them but I missed part 4 of the choir: Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, Herr Zebaoth. Can you tell me if this part is available and if not, where I could find it? Thank you, Dick, Netherlands 2016-02-09.
