1  Von Gott will ich nicht lassen
denn er lässt nicht von mir,
führt mich auf rechter Strassen,
Da ich sonst irret sehr,
er reicht mir seine Hand.
den Abend als den Morgen
thut er mich wohl versorgen,
wo ich auch sei im Land.

2  Wenn sich der Menschen Hulde
und Wohlthat all' verkehrt,
so findt sich Gott gar balde,
sein Macht und Gnad bewährt,
er hilft aus aller Noth,
errett von Sünd und Schanden,
von Ketten und von Banden,
und wenns auch wär der Tod.

3  Auf ihn will ich vertrauen
in meiner schweren Zeit;
es kann mich nicht gereuen,
er wendet alles Leid.
ihm sei es heimgestellt;
mein Leib, mein Seel, mein Leben
sei Gott dem Herrn ergeben,
er machs, wies ihm gefällt!

4  Es thut ihm nichts gefallen
denn was mir nützlich ist
er meints gut mit uns allen
schenkt uns den Herren Christ
sein allerliebsten Sohn,
durch ihn er uns bescheeret
was Leib und Seel ernähret.
Lobt ihn ins Himmels Thron!

5  Lob ihn mit Herz und Munde
weichs er uns beides schenkt,
das ist ein selig Stunde,
darin man sein gedenkt,
sonst verdirbt alleZeit,
die wir zubringn auf Erden,
wir sollen selig werden
und lebn in Ewigkeit.

6  Auch wenn die Welt vergehet
mit ihrenstolzen Pracht,
wedr Ehr noch Gut bestehet
welchs vor war gross geacht,
wir werden nach dem Tod
tief in der erd begraben,
wenn wir geschlafen haben
will uns er weken Gott.

7  Die Seel bleibt unverloren,
geführt in Abrams Schooss,
der Leib wird neugeboren
von allen Sünden los,
ganz heilig, rein und zart,
ein Kind und Erb des Herren,
daran muss uns nichtirren
des Teufels listig Art.

8  Darum ob ich schon dulde
hier Widerwärtigkeit,
wie ich auch wohl verschulde,
kömmt doch die Ewigkeit,
ist aller Freuden voll;
dieselb ohn einigs Ende,
dieweil ich Christum kenne,
Mir widerfahren soll.

9  Das ist der Vaters Wille,
der uns geschaffen hat,
sein Sohn hat Guts die Fülle,
erworben durch sein Gnad,
auch Gott der heilig Geist
im Glauben uns regieret,
zum Reich der Himmel führet,
ihm sei Lob, Ehr und Preis. Amen.

English.png English translation

1  I will not depart from God
because he does not abandon me,
he lead me on the right path,
Since otherwise I might stray,
he gives me his hand.
In the evening as in the morning
is he takes good care of me,
wherever I am.

2  When people let us down
and charity fails,
God is soon there,
his power and mercy proved,
he helps us in trouble
he saves from sin and shame,
from chains and bonds that constrict us
and from death too.

3  I put my trust in him
in my time of trouble;
I cannot be regret this
For he transforms suffering.
So give it to him.
May my body, my soul, my life
be surrendered to the Lord God,
To do with them what he pleases!

4 He does not care about
what I think is useful just to me
he means well for us all
and gives us the Lord Christ
his beloved Son,
through him he grants us
what nourishes body and soul.
Praise Him on heaven's throne!

5  Praise him with heart and mouth
Since he has given us both
that is a happy hour,
to be in
otherwise all time is wasted,
which we spend on earth,
we should be saved
and live forever.

6  The world may disappear
with its proud splendour,
Neither glory nor goods last
What we once we thought mattered,
may after our death
be buried deep in the ground,
if we sleep
God will wake us.

7  The soul stays safe
guided to Abraham's breast,
the body is reborn
from all sins,
very holy, pure and tender,
a child and heir of the Lord,
We do not have to worry about
the devil's cunning arts.

8  Thatis why I tolerate
adversity here,
as well as my failings.
Eternity comes,
It is full of all pleasures;
pleasures with no end,
because I know Christ,
this should happen to me.

9  That ss the Father's will,
who created us,
his Son has the fullness of gifts,
acquired by his grace,
also God the holy Spirit
ruling us in faith,
leads us to the kingdom of heaven,
Praise be to him, honour and praise. Amen.
