German.png German text

1. Ach Gott, vom Himmel sieh darein
und lass dich des erbarmen,
wie wenig sind der Heil'gen dein,
verlassen sind wir Armen.
Dein Wort man läßt nicht haben wahr,
der Glaub' ist auch verloschen gar
bei allen Menschenkindern.

2. Darum spricht Gott: Ich muß auf sein,
die Armen sind verstöret;
ihr Seufzen bringt zu mir herein,
ich hab' ihr' Klag' erhöret.
Mein heilsam' Wort soll auf den Plan,
getrost und frisch sie greifen an
und sein die Kraft der Armen.

3. Das Silber, durch's Feu’r siebenmal
bewährt, wird lauter funden;
an Gottes Wort man warten soll
desgleichen alle Stunden.
Es wird durch's Kreuz bewähret sein,
du wird sein' Kraft erkannt und Schein
und leucht't stark in die Lande.

1. O God, look down from heaven far
and see in love and pity
Your saints below, how few they are,
abandoned, Your poor children.
Men hold Your word to be untrue,
extinguished is the faith in You
among Your earthly children.

2. And then God said, "I must arise,
the poor and weak are suff’ring;
their sighs and tears have reached the skies;
I've heard their loud lamenting.
The healing Word shall be my plan,
refresh, restore, and comfort them
and be their strength in weakness."

3. That silver which by fire sev'n times
is tested we deem purer;
attend God’s Word and His designs,
life's many fires enduring.
That word will by the cross be proved,
and all its power and light renewed
to shine in ev'ry nation.
