Biography
Giulio Cesare Monteverdi was the younger brother of Claudio Monteverdi. He was baptized the 31st January 1573 in Cremona. In 1602, he became musician at the Gonzaga court in Mantua, and was dismissed from service together with his brother and other artists in 1612. He moved on to be organist in Castelleone. In 1620, Monteverdi obtained the post of maestro di capella in Salò at the banks of Lake Garda, where he died in 1630 or 1631.
