Description: No. 3 in Cantiones Sacrae Octonis Vocibus (1613). An organ continuo part was added in the 1625 printing (second edition) but it is fairly clear that organ continuo was not considered integral by Philips. However, it was common to have cornettists and trombonists doubling at least some of the parts. There are no indications of strings doubling.

Hodie in monte
transfigurato Domino
aperti sunt caeli,
et vox patris intonuit:
Hic est Filius meus dilectus
in quo mihi complacui.
Intonuit de caelo Dominus
et vox patris audita est.

English translation

Today he was transfigured
on the mountain of the Lord,
the heavens were opened,
and the voice of the father thundered:
“This is my Son, the beloved,
in whom I am well pleased.”
The LORD thundered from heaven,
and the voice of the Father was heard.

German translation

Heute, als der Herr
auf einem Berg verklärt wurde,
da öffnete sich der Himmel
und die Stimme des Vaters war zu hören:
Dieser ist mein geliebter Sohn,
an ihm habe ich mein Gefallen.
Der HERR donnerte vom Himmel,
und die Stimme des Vaters war zu hören.
