Composer: Daniele Colla

Number of voices: 3vv   Voicing: SAB
(or unison)
Genre: SacredHymn

Language: English

Description: Holy Mary Mother of God is a beautiful prayer written by Pope Benedict XVI as a conclusion to his Encyclical Deus Amor est. The meter is uneven due to the nature of the poetry. This hymn can be sung in unison or 2 or 3 parts. I have added a descant for an instrument in C. It can be played on a flute or a violin or any other instrument.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
you have given the world its true light,
Jesus, your Son, the Son of God.
You have abandoned yourself completely to God's call
and this became a wellspring
of the goodness which flows forth from Him.
Show us Jesus. Lead us to him.
Teach us to know and love him,
so that we too can become capable of true love
and be fountains of living water
in the midst of a thirsting world.
