Herr Christ, der ein'ge Gottessohn, Vater in Ewigkeit,
aus seinem Herz'n entsprossen, gleich wie geschrieben steht.
Es ist der Morgensterne, sein' Glanz streckt er so ferne,
für andern Sternen klar.
English translation
The only Son from Heaven, foretold by ancient seers,
By God the Father given, in human form appears.
No sphere his light confining, no star so brightly shining,
As he, our Morning Star.
Dutch translation
Christus, met eer gekroonde, Zoon Gods in eeuwigheid,
die bij en in God woonde en uit ging in de tijd.
Gij zijt de morgensterre, die opging van zeer verre,
uw licht straalt wijd en zijd.
