German text Maria and Joseph Mein Sohn, warum hast du uns das getan? Siehe, dein Vater [deine Mutter] und ich Haben dich mit Schmerzen gesucht. Jesus Was ist's, daß ihr mich gesuchet habet? Wisset ihr nicht, daß ich muß in dem, Was meines Vaters ist? Chorus Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, Herr Zebaoth. Mein Seel verlanget und sehnet sich Nach den Vorhöfen des Herren. Mein Leib und Seele freuet sich In dem lebendigen Gott. Wohl denen, die in deinem Hause wohnen, Die dich loben immerdar, Sela.

English translation Mary and Joseph My son, why have you done this to us? Behold, your father [your mother] and I Have searched for you with sorrow. Jesus Why is it that you have searched for me?
