Mennyből az angyal Hungarian.png Hungarian text

Mennyből az angyal lejött hozzátok, pásztorok, pásztorok!
Hogy Betlehembe sietve menvén, lássátok, lássátok.
Istennek Fia, aki született jászolban, jászolban,
Ő leszen néktek Üdvözítőtök valóban, valóban.
Mellette vagyon az édesanyja, Mária, Mária;
Barmok közt fekszik, jászolban nyugszik szent Fia, szent Fia.
El is menének köszöntésére azonnal, azonnal
Szép ajándékot vivén szívökben magukkal, magukkal.
A kis Jézuskát egyenlőképen imádják, imádják,
A nagy Úristent ilyen nagy jóért mind áldják, mind áldják.

(Note: In the score, the first accent is missing from 'szívökben'.)

English.png English translation by Mick Swithinbank

From heaven the angel has come down to you, shepherds,
So that you may hasten to Bethlehem and see
The son of God, who has been born [and is lying] in a manger.
May he be your saviour.
May his mother Mary be beside him;
The holy boy lies among cattle, he sleeps in the manger.
Let them go at once to greet him,
Taking beautiful gifts with them in their hearts.
May they worship little Jesus alike,
May they all bless God Almighty for such a great boon.
