Latin text
O quam beata lancea, quam beati clavi,
Qui Christi membra intrare metuerunt.
O si fuissem loco istius lanceae,
Nunquam e Christi latere exire voluissem,
Sed dixissem: haec requies mea in saeculum saeculi,
Hic habitabo, quoniam elegi eam.
English translation
O blessed spear, O happy nails,
That fear to enter the body of Christ.
Oh, had I been in place of the lance,
Never would I leave the side of Christ,
But would say: this is my rest for ever and ever,
Here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.
