Preis sei Gott im höchsten Throne
Und auch seinem lieben Sohne,
Der uns ist ein Mensch geboren,
Sonst wär' alle wir verloren.
Ein Kindlein ist uns heut gegeben,
Das erhält uns bei dem Leben,
Welch's ist klarer als die Sonne,
Aller Engel Freud und Wonne.
Der König Himmels und der Erden,
Da er uns auch gleich sollt werden,
Ward gebor'n ein armes Kindlein
