Miért vetettél el minket Isten, mindvégig, fölindúlván haragod a te legelőd juhaira?
Emlékezzél meg gyűlekezetedről, melyet kezdettől bírtál, és megváltottál, mint örökséged osztályrészét; ki Sion hegyén laktál.
Emeld föl az ő kevélységök ellen kezeidet mindvégig. Mennyi gonoszt tőn az ellenség a szent helyen!
És dicsekedtek, a kik gyűlöltek téged, ünnepeid között. Az ő jeleiket jelekűl tették
a magasokra, mint a kapukra, és nem értették. Mint a fák erdejében fejszékkel
vágták szét annak ajtait mindegyütt, fejszével és bárddal döntötték le azt,
felgyújtották tűzzel a te szentélyedet, a földön megfertőztették a te neved hajlékát.
Mondák szivökben ők és nemzetségök együtt: Szűntessük meg az Isten minden ünnepnapját a földön.
Jeleinket nem látjuk, már nincs próféta; s minket ő nem ismer többé.
