German and Latin text
Quem pastores laudavere,
Den die Hirten lobten sehre
quibus angeli dixere:
und die Engel noch viel mehre:
Absit vobis jam timere,
Fürcht' euch fürbass nimmer mehre,
natus est rex gloriae,
euch ist geboren ein König der Ehr'n.
Ad quem reges ambulabant,
Kön'ge kamen hergeritten,
aurum, thus, myrrham portabant,
Weihrauch, Myrrhen, Gold inmitten,
immolabant haec sincere
fielen nieder auf die Knieen,
leoni victoriae,
opferten, dem Leu'n des Siegs.
Exultemus cum Maria
Freut euch alle mit Maria
in coelesti hierarchia,
in des Himmels Hierarchien,
natum promat voce pia
da die Engel singen alle:
laus, honor et gloria,
Lob und Ehre sei Gott, dem Herrn!
Christo regi, Deo nato,
Lobt, ihr Menschen allzugleiche,
per Mariam nobis dato,
Gottes Sohn vom Himmelreiche!
merito resonat vere
Uns zum Trost ist ergeboren,
dulci cum melodia,
singet ihm ein lieblich Lied!
