General Information

Title: Sancti Spiritus
Composer: Guillaume Dufay

Number of voices: 3vv   Voicing: SAA
Genre: SacredSequence hymn for Pentecost

Language: Latin
Instruments: a cappella, not excluding instruments on untexted parts

First published:
Description: Sequentia for the feast of Pentecost transcribed from the Trent manuscripts tr93 and tr92. The attribution to Dufay is doubtful. The time signature is missing, the “tempus perfectum” has been assumed from the context. In the tr92 manuscript the Contra and the Tenor are in F key. The notes' values and colourings are as in the manuscript., the coloured notes are “hemiolæ”. The notes' values within the "ligaturæ" are as follows: the left upstemmed notes are semibreves - the unstemmed note are breves. The "musica ficta" suggestions are in the MIDI and MusicXML files.
