English translation
He:
Little Teresa, sister;
delafararirira
Sister Teresa.
What if I implored you
that for a single night
with you I might sleep?
delafararirira
She:
One single night
I would well sleep (with you)
but I am terribly afraid
that I might fall pregnant.
Narrator:
(He) calls little Teresa but she won't show up;
so bad a night she has,
her mother calls her but she keeps silent.
(Her mother) made an oath that she would kill her.
Oh, what a bad night she has!

Ele:
Teresinha, irmã,
delafararirira
Irmã Teresa:
E se eu te implorasse
que uma noite somente
contigo pudesse deitar-me?
delafararirira.
Ela:
Uma noite somente
contigo dormiria contente
mas tenho um grande medo
de que me engravidaria.
Narrador:
(Ele) chama Teresinha mas ela não vem;
tão má noite ela tem,
chama-a sua mãe e ela se cala.
Pois (a mãe) jurou que a mataria.
Que má noite ela tem!
