Biography

Alfred Jethro Silver was born in Spital Clewer, Windsor, England. He studied at St. George’s School, Windsor, with Sir Walter Parratt and graduated from the University of Durham. He was named a Fellow Royal College of Organists. He held organist positions at Clewer Parish Church; Ealing Parish Church, London; St. David’s, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales; Carmarthen Parish Church; and Handsworth Parish Church, Birmingham, England. He was also the music master at Handsworth Grammar School. His compositions were mostly church music, piano works, and organ works. He died in Birmingham, England.
