Biography

Arthur Charles Bennett was born in Andover, Hampshire, England, son of organist William Bennett (1822–1901). He trained privately and as a chorister at Winchester. He became an organist and violinist, and held several positions, including at Wonston; Upper Clatford; Barton Stacey; Andover; Old Basing; Whitchurch, Hants; and the Andover Grammar School. He died in the Andover Old Grammar School House. He composed a small assortment of pieces. His brother George John Bennett was also a successful music professor, organist, and composer.
