Italian text Perche duo baci sol mi diè costei Ebro d'Amor, died'il mio cor à lei, O che bel cambio Amore, Dar per due baci un core! Deh, tu giudice pio, Rompi il contratto rio, Dov'è l'inganno, E'l mio si grave danno, E sa pur ch'ellà rend'à me'l cor mio, Ch'anch'io renderò à lei, se tu'l consenti, Per duo gelati, mille baci ardenti.

English translation Because of two kisses she gave me, drunk with love I gave my heart to her. O fair exchange of love, giving your heart away for two kisses! Ah, you merciful judge, break the vicious contract, by which her deceit is my harsh injury, so that I too will give her, if you agree, a thousand burning kisses for two icy ones. translation by Judith Cohen
