See the harvest moon is shining,
And the stars are gleaming bright,
Gentle twilight fast is fading,
Timid day has taken flight,
Dark the river, still the valley,
Gone the sun, not all his might,
Can arrest the silent progress,
Or contest the pow’r of night.

Hark! the nightingale is trilling,
Low and sweet among the trees,
And the grasses by the lakeside,
Hum the chorus, with the bees.

Wearied from a day of laughter
Cares no more the leaves to tease,
But subsides in sighing slumber
’Mid the sleepy birds and bees.

See the harvest moon is shining,
