Oh! Love’s in the sky,
And Love’s in the air!
And Love’s on the earth,
And Love’s everywhere!
So, Maiden, take care,
Dear Maiden, beware!
In case that Love seize you,
For then he might tease you:
For Love knows no pity
For Maidens so pretty:
All bonds he defies
And laughs in your eyes;
E’en the bird in the sky
Is his faithful ally,
And sings of a nest
Where Love lies at rest!
But trust him not, sweeting,
For Love is aye fleeting:
The more you believe,
The more he’ll deceive!
Give Love a goodbye
When he peeps in your eye!
But warnings are vain
When Spring comes again,
For each lad and maid,
Not one whit afraid,
Seizes Love’s rosy chain,
Not heeding the pain
Of the thorns that it hides,
For Love still abides!

For Love’s in the sky,
And Love’s in the air!
And Love’s on the earth,
And Love’s everywhere!
