Died: 1941

William Ralph Cox was born in Galion, Ohio, son of a hardware wholesaler, and graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He pursued further studies in New York, Paris, and Florence, then settled in New York as a teacher of singing, organist, and composer. He taught at the Kellerman Institute of Art, Brooklyn, and the Warford School of Music, Morristown, New Jersey. He operated a studio at the Metropolitan Opera House and was organist and choirmaster at the First Presbyterian Church, Orange, New Jersey. He died in Manhattan. His compositions include keyboard pieces, choral pieces, and songs.
