Biography

William Wooding Starmer was born in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England, and trained at the Royal Academy of Music. He was organist to the Marquis of Northampton at Castle Ashby and of St. Mark’s Church, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. He was expert on the science of bells and held a unique professorship of campanology at the University of Birmingham. He died in Tunbridge Wells. His compositions include service music, anthems, carols, and hymns.
