Latin text
Veni in hortum, soror mea,
sponsa immaculata mea
et speciosa mea.
Veni, noli tardare,
flores apparuerunt in terra nostra,
floruerunt vites.
Italian text
Dicea Dameta a Cloride piangendo:
non sai che tu mi struggi,
ben mio, quando mi fuggi?
E che bear mi puoi con un sol guardo
de' begli occhi tuoi,
con gli occhi tuoi?
English translation (of the Latin)
I came into the garden, my sister, my spouse,
my undefiled, my beautiful one.
Come, make no delay.
The flowers have appeared in our land,
The vines have blossomed.
(of the Italian)
Dameta, crying, said to Cloride:
Don't you know, my love,
that I slowly die when you flee from me?
And that you can fill me with joy with a single look
of your beautiful eyes,
with your eyes?
