English text
Hear the merry chiming of the bells,
The merry chiming now we hear,
How sweetly falling on the ear,
List to the merry chiming of the bells.
Ring our merrily, swing so cheerily,
Telling gaily of hope and joy;
Sweet bells, ringing out,
Wild notes flinging out,
Songs and carols all tongues employ.
Ring out mournfully, harshly, dolefully,
Sad tales telling of grief and despair.
Chime out joyfully, gaily, cheerfully,
Jingling merrily through the air.
